The world has become a small place. In 1987 when we first moved to Africa, it took months to get news vial mail from "back home." Once, we went six months without knowing what was in our bank account. You may wonder why we didn't just make a phone call and find out. Well, there was no phone available to us back then. You could say we were off the grid.

The “Why”
The only answer I have found for hate is love. Loving more, loving extravagantly, loving when it is easy, and when it is hard for love is an easy load to carry.
Dream On, Little One
Then, I remembered the little children I watched playing around the periphery of our church tent where we meet (yes, our church is definitely no frills). I watched them cartwheeling, playing, and caught one of them looking off into the distance as if to daydream. I wondered what that little one dreamt of.
Deeply Personal
In this world of great pain and need, what can be done to bring meaningful change? On the African continent alone, there are hundreds of millions of stories like these; it feels like an impossible situation. I am daily assaulted with feelings of despair when I see hungry children, abused women, and hopelessness in the eyes of the vulnerable.
Are we exempt from doing anything because whatever we do won’t be enough to touch vast swaths of the population?
It Won’t Come Easily
It is inevitable that we will face loss as we move forward in the will of God, either through death or other circumstance. It will be painful, it won't come easily, but there’s a way through the pain if indeed we believe His presence is all we need.
