In reality, no one needs a Christmas tree, decorations, lights, presents, and eggnog. In fact, we would do well to scale down on our “need” for these things and remember why the 25th of December is even highlighted on the calendar: to celebrate the beginning of a shift in history, the birth of Christ. History shifted for me personally when the Christmas story became my story –and my life changed.
The work of God clearly can’t be done if we qualify for clearly, none of us qualify! The needs of this world are devastating and without Jesus at the center of it all, it would be impossible.
I’ve cried out in prayer, like many of you have, “God, I’ll do anything, go anywhere, and give up whatever You ask, for Your will! Everything I have is Yours!” Only to find that “everything” encompasses everything and that offering of everything I have is much more complicated than praying that prayer sounded at first.
Jesus always speaks beyond the obvious. He knows we are conflicted in our minds and as much as we might think we want things to change in our circumstances, we grow comfortable with the way things are going in life. Change can be, even in difficult times, more uncomfortable than the discomfort we struggle with from day to day.
Day 12 - My Last Week At Home The Lord wants us to live a life filled with Him and thus we flourish and bear fruit. It makes no sense to lock the Lord out of our lives because we are going through difficulties.
